BAITADI, August 4: Traffic along the Mahakali Highway has been blocked since Friday morning by a landslide at Bangabagar of Dilashaini-6 along the Satbajh-Gokuleshwor section.
According to the District Police Office, Baitadi, the landslide fell from above the road at 7:00 am has brought the traffic movement along the highway to a total halt. Office Deputy Superintendent of Police Heramba Sharma, efforts were on the clear off the landslide debris to resume the traffic.
Landslide blocks Mahakali Highway
Short –route vehicles and those en route to Kathmandu, Mahendranagar, Dhangadhi, Dadeldhura, Darchula from the district and vice-versa have left stranded along the highway, following the landslide.
Mudslide has been frequent at this point since the past 14 years. Lack of proper management of the landslide that had occurred here in 2060 BS, completely destroying six houses and turning 150 ropani (821,400 sq feet) of land into desert is believed to be a reason behind repeated mud slips here in the rainy season.
