KOICA adviser, volunteers arrive in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Dec 2: Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has sent off a team of volunteers along with an adviser to work in Nepal in various sectors.

KOICA informed that the adviser Lee Chan Koo will be working for Korean Nepal Institute of Technology, Butwal, in the field of human resources for a year. Likewise, six volunteers will be sent to Trishuli Hospital in Nuwakot, Nepal Red Cross Society in Chitwan, School of Health and Science in Chitwan and Dhaulagiri Zonal Hospital in Baglung while two volunteers will be sent to Bishwo Bhasha Campus, Kathmandu, and the Kathmandu University in Dhulikhel.Similarly, other two volunteers will be working at Women and Child Development Office in Dhading, and District Education Office in Baglung.

"The volunteers will take about six to eight weeks of adaptation program in Nepal where they will learn about Nepali society, culture, tradition as well as language," reads a press release issued by the KOICA office.

KOICA has been deploying Korean volunteers in various government organizations within and outside Kathmandu since 1990. So far, 337 such volunteers have served in Nepal. At present, 32 Korean volunteers are active in the country, according to the release.
