BIRATNAGAR, March 28: Khas/Kshetri community, which has enjoyed honorable position in the state, has resorted to agitation demanding their rights in the upcoming constitution. They have demanded that they be excluded from Kshetri, Thakuri and Churaute, among others, and be enlisted as indigenous group.

The Khas/Kshetri Ekata Society announced its agitation at a press conference in Biratnagar on Saturday. Chairman of the Society Durga Chapagai Basnet said, “We won’t accept discriminatory constitution and Kshetri shouldn’t be included in the list of Kshetri, Thakuri, Churaute and others.”
While demanding proportional representation on the basis of population in every state organ, the society has asked for representation only for a certain period. The society has also demanded Khas/Kshetri Study and Research Council be established. It has called a motorcycle rally on Sunday in Biratnagar and Eastern-region conference of Khas/Kshetri on Monday.
