Vice-chancellor selection interviews underway for five universities

According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, interviews and presentations for shortlisted candidates at Purbanchal University, Mid-West University and Agriculture and Forestry University began on Sunday under the schedule approved by the Vice-Chancellor Recommendation and Selection Committee.

KATHMANDU, June 28: Interviews and work plan presentations of shortlisted candidates for the vacant vice-chancellor posts at five universities are underway as part of the government's ongoing leadership selection process.



According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, interviews and presentations for shortlisted candidates at Purbanchal University, Mid-West University and Agriculture and Forestry University began on Sunday under the schedule approved by the Vice-Chancellor Recommendation and Selection Committee.


The committee said the process is aimed at selecting capable, visionary, innovative and results-oriented academic leaders to strengthen institutional governance and improve the quality of higher education. The ministry has already made the detailed selection procedure public through its official channels.

It said transparency, fairness, objectivity and institutional credibility have been prioritised throughout the selection process. Each interview panel comprises subject experts along with members of the recommendation committee, while separate expert panels have been formed for each university to ensure a systematic and effective evaluation.


Under the pre-determined schedule, shortlisted candidates for the vice-chancellor posts at Pokhara University and Rajarshi Janak University will give their presentations and attend interviews on Monday.


On Saturday, the committee completed interviews and work plan presentations for shortlisted candidates seeking the vacant vice-chancellor positions at Tribhuvan University, Far Western University and Lumbini Buddhist University.


The ministry said the vice-chancellor selection process for all eight universities is expected to be completed within the stipulated timeframe, with the goal of strengthening institutional governance and academic excellence in Nepal's higher education sector.
