Kedar Narsingh elected NMA chief, democrats win 12 of 13 seats

KATHMANDU, March 19: Democrat’s panel led by Dr Kedar Narsingh KC won the election held for Nepal Medical Association’s central leadership. KC defeated Dr Ganesh Gurung, a candidate who identified himself as “progressive”. Dr Karabir Nath Yogi, Dr Rajesh Kishor Shrestha, Dr Ashwini Kumar  Jha and Dr Moti Ram Shrestha were  elected senior vice- chairman, vice-chairman general secretary and joint secretary, respectively. Dr Om Bikram Shah (Mrs) and Dr Dhan Bahadur Rana Magar were elected treasurer and joint-tresurer, respectively. Dr Bhupendra Basnet, Dr Rameshwor Pokharel, Dr Ram Naresh Pundit, Dr Giri Dhari Sharma, Dr Ganesh Kumar Thakur and Dr Arun Karki were elected members in the committee. Karki is the only member to be elected from “progressive panel”.
