JUMLA, Jun 9: District administration has said that it would not let anybody including consumers committees and defaulting contractors go scot-free.

The administration has since been keeping close tabs on them to see whether they are doing something wrong while carrying out development works in the local units.

Bhitrikhola Hydro Consumers Committee has already been brought under the purview of supervision by the administration.

The district administration office started carrying out investigation into the case after complaints were lodged against them saying that they are misusing the fund and doing negligence in the development works.

According to Chief District Office (CDO) Bishnu Paudel he has given arrested members two options - either return money or stay in the custody.

CDO Paudel said Rs 610,000 has been recovered from consumers committee so far. This is the first case that the misappropriated money has been recovered.

Rs 1,200 to Rs 150,000 have been found shared among the consumers, according to Paudel.

“We have   sent a list of defaulting contractors to the Ministry of Home Affairs and now we are targeting dishonest consumers,” said Paudel.
