KATHMANDU, April 19: CPN (Unified Socialist) leader Ram Kumari Jhankri has urged protesting teachers to leave the streets and return to their schools.
Through her social media post today, Jhankri appealed teachers to resume their responsibilities in schools. She assured that the government is committed to enacting the new law and that the bill is currently under detailed discussions in the committee.
She explained that the discussions are taking time because the bill will pass with amendments. Once the committee approves the bill, it will then move to the House for further proceedings.
Private school teachers warn of taking self-destructive action...

She wrote, "The government is committed to bringing the new law, and all concerned parties are also interested. It is right for teachers to draw attention to this issue, as the law should have been implemented earlier but wasn't. Now, it will be. The bill is currently undergoing detailed discussions in the committee. These discussions are taking time because the bill will pass with amendments. The next step is for the committee to approve the bill, and once it does, the bill will go to the House. The government is committed, and the law will pass in this session."
Jhankri also questioned, "Doesn't the parliament and government follow their own legal procedures to pass the bill? Should members of parliament, former ministers, former prime ministers, and leaders who have taken to the streets pass the law from the streets?"
She emphasized that teachers and government employees cannot demand that the bill pass without going through the proper legislative process, as it is still under detailed discussions in the committee.
She further said, "Doesn't the parliament and government follow their own legal procedures to pass the bill? Should members of parliament, former ministers, former prime ministers, and leaders who have taken to the streets pass the law from the streets? Can we demand the passage of a bill that is still under detailed discussion in the committee without following the proper process? Teachers and employees who receive government salaries are asking this. Can we close schools during enrollment time and Jeopardize the future of millions of students? Many schools you have taught in have a zero result in BLE exams?
