SINDHULI, April 22: The construction of a concrete bridge over the Bagmati River connecting Sindhuli and Makwanpur has been completed 11 years after the construction was started. The project was handed over to Swachhand Bhairav Construction Services on July 13, 2011. The project was initially contracted at the cost of Rs 206.2 million with a time period of five years.
However, the construction company delayed the construction of the bridge by subcontracting the project to another company. The locals had been suffering due to non-construction of the bridge for more than a decade.

The project deadline was extended till September 2018 after the construction could not be completed within the initially designated time period. But the work could not be completed even by the extended deadline. Some locals lost their lives while crossing the Bagmati River as there was no bridge over the river there.
With the completion of the bridge construction, locals are happy as they do not have to risk their lives to cross the river anymore.
