KATHMANDU, Jan 21: The Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) on Tuesday expressed serious concern over the ruling Nepal Communist Party's decision to field Agni Prasad Sapkota as its candidate for the post of speaker.
In a press release today, the human rights organization also urged the NCP to rethink its decision. "The NCP's decision goes against the domestic laws and Nepal's commitment to human rights," read the press release.
Wrong pick
The INSEC also accused the NCP of promoting impunity and lawlessness by nominating Sapkota for the top post of the legislative body.
In its press release, the INSC lamented over the ruling NCP's decision to pick Sapkota as its candidate for the post of speaker. Sapkota has been accused of murdering schoolteacher Arjun Lama in Kavrepalanchowk during the insurgency and the case against him is sub judice at the Supreme Court.
