KATHMANDU, Aug 19: Indian Army Chief General Dhiraj Seth wrapped up his four-day official visit to Nepal on Wednesday, during which he held talks with senior Nepali officials and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral defence cooperation.
General Seth arrived in Kathmandu on August 16 at the invitation of the Chief of Army Staff of the Nepali Army, General Ashok raj Sigdel.
On August 17, Seth laid a wreath at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel and paid tribute to soldiers who sacrificed their lives in service to the nation. He then visited the Nepali Army Headquarters, where he received a ceremonial Guard of Honour.
Seth met Nepali Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel and discussed ways to expand bilateral defence cooperation. He also handed over vehicles and medical equipment to enhance Nepal’s disaster preparedness and humanitarian response capabilities.

Continuing the longstanding tradition between the two armies, President Ram Chandra Paudel conferred the honorary rank of general of the Nepali Army on Seth at a ceremony at Shital Niwas.
On August 18, Seth visited the Nepali Army Command and Staff College in Shivapuri, where he interacted with students and faculty members. The interaction focused on the importance of academic cooperation between the armed forces of India and Nepal.
Seth also paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Balendra Shah, with discussions focusing on the longstanding partnership between Nepal and India, particularly defence cooperation.
On Wednesday, Seth travelled to Pokhara and interacted with Indian Army veterans. Addressing the gathering, he appreciated the service and sacrifices of Indian Army veterans in safeguarding India’s sovereignty and security.
Veer naris—widows of Indian armed forces personnel who died in service—and gallantry award recipients were felicitated during the event. During the visit, Seth distributed mobility equipment to ex-servicemen.
The Indian Embassy said Seth’s visit helped strengthen the multifaceted Nepal-India relationship and deepen cooperation in defence and security.
