BIRATNAAGAR, Feb 14: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai on Thursday claimed that his government would hold new Constituent Assembly (CA) elections if political parties fail to forge agreement on the formation of new government under the leadership of incumbent chief justice (CJ).

Speaking to journalists here in Biratnagar airport, PM Bhattarai reiterated that formation of CJ-led election government would be the best and final alternative for ending the ongoing political impasse.[break]

“Assigning the responsibility of leading election government to CJ is the best alternative for free and fair elections, which is also an international practice,” PM argued.

On the occasion, the PM informed that the major parties are holding intense discussions on the formation of CJ-led government and expressed his hope that consensus would be forged by Friday so that new CA elections could be held by May-end.
