This data does not include SUVs. In the same period, Laxmi Intercontinental, the authorized distributor of Hyundai vehicles for Nepal, sold 806 units of i10, 550 units of Santro and 316 units of i20 which are the top three highest-selling hatchbacks in the country. This figure is closely followed by Ford Figo which sold 281 units in the same period.
“Hyundai vehicles have strong points like fuel-efficiency despite a powerful engine, low maintenance cost, resale value and affordable purchasing cost that make the vehicle very popular in the market,” said Rupesh Sharma Bhatta, the senior manager for business development and planning at Laxmi Intercontinental.
Price of i10 ranges from Rs 1.83 million to Rs 2.09 million in the market. Similarly, Santro costs Rs 1.73 million and price of i20 ranges from Rs 2.19 million to Rs 2.69 million in Nepal. Prices of i10 and i20 have recently been revised upwards by Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 depending on the model. Officials at Laxmi Intercontinental explains that the price rise was because of the rise in importing price itself.
“We started selling Figo from the October-end because of which we are standing fourth. If we consider the sales from November onwards, we stand as the second highest selling hatchback in the market,” said Sunil Chhetri, the manager of Go Ford. Go Ford is the authorized distributor of Ford vehicles for the market of Nepal.
Price of Ford Figo ranges from Rs 1.7 million to Rs 2.55 million in Nepal.
