KATHMANDU, Aug 5: The Education and Health Committee of the Federal Parliament has formed a sub-committee for the preparations of the 13th South Asian Games (SAG), which is scheduled for December.
At a committee meeting held Sunday, the sub-committee was formed under the leadership of Jeevan Ram Shrestha, president of Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC).
Shrestha is also the current president of South Asian Olympic Council. He was appointed the president of the council because of a provision which states that the SAG host leads the council, according to the committee secretary Pushpa Prakash Khanal
‘No obstruction in 13th SAG preparations under any pretext’
The sub-committee was formed to help expedite the already-delayed preparations for the 13th SAG that is scheduled to be held from December 1 to 10.
Narayan Prasad Marasaini, Gajendra Bahadur Mahat, Namita Chaudhary, and Nabina Lama have been appointed members of the sub-committee.
The committee had been asking the Ministry of Youth and Sports to provide progress details of SAG preparations.
Shrestha said the sub-committee will soon start investigation on the preparations for the 13th SAG.
