The management and staffers of Hotel Yak and Yeti, Durbar Marg in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police, Nepal Tourism Board and Blue Waste organized Durbarmarg Cleaning Campaign on Tuesday.

The campaign that ran from 6:30 to 8:30am was organized as part of 40-years-celebration of Hotel Yak and Yeti. The cleaning campaign, a collaborative approach to promote clean and green zone, was initiated from the hotel premises and covered the entire Durbarmarg area.

Monika Petra Scheiblauer, general manager of Hotel Yak and Yeti said, “Effort from each individual can contribute to preserve the environment and Mother Earth.” She also informed that the team also had plans to conduct a program to serve the orphans on September 22.
“I am glad to make an active participation in such event and I am thankful to Hotel Yak and Yeti for taking the initiative to organize it for people’s welfare. I believe such campaigns should be conducted on a weekly-basis,” said Shree Gurung, head of Durbarmarg Development Board.

Similarly, DSP of Metropolitan Police Tilak Bharati expressed that such campaigns should be highly prioritized and given continuity in order to encourage people to contribute their individual effort to develop an eco-friendly environment.

With the participation of diverse people belonging to different ages, sexes and work stations, the two-hour long cleaning campaign was a success although it was drizzling in Durbarmarg. Assistant Manager of Hotel Yak and Yeti, Anu Parajuli, said the early morning drizzle had added value to the campaign, making the area look cleaner and greener.
