Home Ministry directs subordinate bodies to confirm beneficiaries for temporary housing funds

The home ministry has stated that once the number of beneficiaries is confirmed, funds for temporary housing will be released within three days.

The home ministry has stated that once the number of beneficiaries is confirmed, funds for temporary housing will be released within three days.


Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak stated that instructions have already been given to quickly identify and report the number of beneficiaries in the districts affected by floods, landslides, and inundation. Speaking at an event held at the Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday, he clarified that funds for temporary housing will be released within three days once the beneficiaries are identified.

Home Minister Lekhak expressed sorrow over the significant loss of lives and property due to the disaster, offering condolences to the bereaved families and sympathy to the affected ones. He also said that the government has arranged free treatment for the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.


Home Minister Lekhak stated that the government has already sent funds to the districts after deciding to provide Rs 200,000 in relief to the families of the deceased. He said that the respective districts are distributing the relief amounts to the victims. He also emphasized that the government is seriously engaged in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts.


Due to the monsoon rains from September 26 to September 28, a total of 244 people have died across the country, and 18 others are still missing. Physical infrastructure worth billions of rupees has been damaged. Even now, several highways, including the BP Highway, remain non-operational.
