IG Singh directs subordinate bodies to remain standby for potential disasters

KATHMANDU, August 3: Inspector General (IG) of Nepal Police, Dhiraj Pratap Singh has directed the subordinate bodies to identify areas vulnerable to disasters and remain on standby with preparedness and response plans.

KATHMANDU, August 3: Inspector General (IG) of Nepal Police, Dhiraj Pratap Singh has directed the subordinate bodies to identify areas vulnerable to disasters and remain on standby with preparedness and response plans. 


While inaugurating a police building constructed on the premises of the Kathmandu Valley Special Security Police Battalion Tripureshwor today, the Nepal Police chief asked the bodies concerned to assess and ascertain areas prone to water-induced disasters such as inundation, floods and landslides and remain on standby to deal with any untoward incidents. 


"Nepal Police has its role on the frontline in crime investigation, management of peace and security and disaster response," he said.

"In some cases, we have experiences of being criticized for our failure to hold on to our patience which led to human loss. That's why it is necessary for us to control our emotions as per the context and deal with the situation rationally and consciously, "he asserted.             


Similarly, Kathmandu’s Chief District Officer Govinda Prasad Rijal spoke of the need for capacity enhancement of Nepal Police as per the changing time and situation. He took time to express his hope that the Battalion would do its role competently for combating crime in the Kathmandu Valley. 


Kathmandu Valley Police Office Chief and Additional Inspector General of Police   Rabindra Bahadur Dhanuk was also present on the occasion. 


The facility was constructed at the cost of around Rs 230 million, according to Battalion Chief and Superintendent of Police, Sanuram Bhattarai.
