Himal Sharma wins presidency at TU campus

KATHMANDU, March 31: Maoist-affiliated All Nepal National Independent Students´ Union-Revolutionary (ANNISU-R) has bagged victory in the Free Students´ Union (FSU) elections at TU campus, Kirtipur. ANNISU-R presidential candidate Himal Sharma received 2769 votes, while his nearest rival Anjan Lama of Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Students´ Union (NSU) got just 2,427 votes. Sharma is the general secretary of ANNISU-R. ANNISU-R has emerged victorious in 13 positions and the NSU won assistant secretary and a member in the 15-member panel. ANNISU-R secretary candidate Manushi Bhattarai, who is the daughter of senior Maoist leader and ministers Dr Babu Ram Bhattarai and Hisila Yami, has secured 3066 votes, the highest of all other winning candidates.
