High-level probe committee starts on-site monitoring

DHANUSHA, March 23: The High-Level Probe Commission that was formed with mandate to investigate the incidents of violence and killings occurred during the Tharuhat-Madhes movement started on-site investigation into the incidents from Dhanusha district headquarters, Janakpur. 


The Commission initiated field intervention as part of its investigation to find out truths and facts of the incidents such as killing, violence, arson, vandalism and manhandle that took place in the movements of Terai, Madhes and Tharuhat.

The high-level commission headed by former Justice of Supreme Court Giris Chandra Lal had visited the sites where agitators were gunned down by police during Madhes movement. 

The team enquired the eye witnesses and family members of those killed during the movement in Mills Area, Bhanu Chowk, Shiva Chowk, Pidari Chowk, Ramananda Chowk and Biwokarma Temple of Janakpur. 


The commission comprises Lal as Coordinator and former justice Surya Prasad Koirala, former investigation department chief Nawaraj Dhakal, Sukha Chandra Jha and Sujan Lopchan as members. RSS
