KATHMANDU, April 19: Local winds and a westerly system are currently influencing the country’s weather.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) reports that Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces are experiencing partly to generally cloudy conditions, while the rest of the country remains mostly clear to partly cloudy. One or two places in Koshi and Bagmati provinces are already witnessing light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Weather conditions will stay partly to generally cloudy across the country today. Some areas in the hilly regions of Koshi and other mountainous parts, along with a few places elsewhere, are likely to receive light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning.
Heavy rainfall likely in some provinces today
Heavy rainfall may occur at one or two locations in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces. A few places in the high-hill and mountainous regions may also experience light rain and snowfall.
Tonight, partly to generally cloudy skies will persist in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces, while mostly clear to partly cloudy conditions will prevail in the remaining areas.
The forecast indicates a chance of light rain with thunder and lightning at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two spots in the hilly parts of Karnali Province. One or two places in the high-hill and mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces may also receive light rain and snowfall.
The DHM has advised people to take necessary precautions, warning that thunder, lightning, rain, and snowfall could affect agriculture, daily life, health, road travel, and air transport.
