Heat wave hits Banke life

NEPALGUNJ, April 28: Intense heat accompanied by intermittent heat waves has affected normal life in this western Tarai district in the recent days.



The average day-time temperatures here is hovering over 41 degree Celsius, throwing life out of gear. [break]



As a result, the people here come out of their homes only early in the morning and evenings except for urgent work.



Less number of people are coming to the government offices and offices of non-government organizations in the daytime these days due to the heat. Sale of ice-cream and cold drinks has soared in the town of late.



The number of patients suffering from diarrhoea, dysentery, boils and other communicable diseases seeking medical attention has also increased at the local hospital with the soaring temperatures.
