The hailstorm that took place on May 11 causes losses to 299 households of the area, according to Area Police Office, Gankhu.
The downpour with hailstones had largely destroyed the plantation of fruits, vegetables and paddy along with house and sheds, police said.
The government should end the tendency of showing apathy to the farmers of poor and remote communities even when the natural calamity ravaged their crops, said Chairperson of Farmers Group of Gankhu Krishna Adhikari.
The irate farmers attempted to manhandle Senior Agriculture Development Officer Buddhi Bahadur Thapa, who came to attend District Council.
