KATHMANDU, Feb 16: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Bindabasini Kansakar urged the government to establish a burn treatment center as well as approve the bill on the treatment of burn victims.
Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Sunday, she highlighted that incidents of burn affect 60,000 to 65,000 Nepali citizens each year. She criticized the government's lack of serious attention to workforce development and to the health sector, stating that even high-ranking individuals have suffered as a result.
Make burn care treatment available in Nepal

Kansakar, an acid attack victim herself, criticized that the slogan "Think Safety, Do Safety" is limited to paper only. Emphasizing the unpredictable nature of burns, she warned that they can affect anyone, regardless of status, and can cause death or disability. After having recognized this urgency, she registered a private bill seven months ago, and called for immediate action. She urged lawmakers to pass the bill on the treatment of burn victims, establish burn treatment centers, and prioritize the production of skilled manpower. She also pressed the Nepal government to strengthen the rescue system and address the issue effectively.
