Govt ready to address demands of Madhes: Minister Kharel

DAMAK, Nov 28: Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Agni Kharel, has said that the government is ready to address the demands of United Democratic Madhesi Front by amending the new constitution.

Minister Kharel said so at a press meet organized by the Press Chautari Nepal here Saturday. Also the politburo member of the CPN-UML, Mr Kharel said that although it was not a problem to his party and the government to amend the new constitution, it was important to see whether it is the solution.


He said, "Though the government is ready to address the demands of Madhesi Morcha through amendment of new constitution, Morcha is not serious for the discussion."

Stating that the agitation launched by the Morcha from the streets and border points would not give any solution, the Law Minister urged the Morcha to believe that demands would be fulfilled through the medium of dialogue and discussion.

Meanwhile, Minister Kharel laid the foundation stone of a police post at Gauradaha-7 in Jhapa district today itself. Laying the foundation stone, he said that the government was committed to maintaining peace, law and order.

On the occasion, locals--Gopal Dorjee Lama and Bharati Lama were honored for providing five kattha land free of cost for the police post. RSS
