Govt promotes two NA colonels

KATHMANDU, June 5: The government has promoted two colonels Deepak Prasad Bharati and Devendra Bahadur Medhasi as brigadier generals of Nepal Army on Tuesday.



The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting in Singha Durbar on Tuesday morning. [break]



According to Information and Communication Minister Rajkishor Yadav, who is also the government spokesperson, the meeting also decided to transfer eight brigadier generals and extend the tenure of brigadier generals Padam Billas Karki and Bijaya Moktan and a Colonel (Technical) Dr Rajesh Panta.



Similarly, government has also decided to provide Rs. 100,000 assistance to the family of Basanti Bohara, a rape victim, for her medical treatment. Bohara was raped by a group at Batadi-based Shree Krishna Higher Secondary School in March.



Likewise, the Cabinet also decided to form talks team and to delegate power for the talks with Asian Development Bank in a bid to release 11 million US dollars grant assistance for the ´Preparation facility for the water resources project´ program.



Meanwhile, the government has also permitted to the Ministry of Education to sign an agreement with Banaras Hindu University regarding setting up a Nepal Chair at the university.
