Speaking in a press conference organized by the Press Chautari Nepal, Banke Chapter, today, he said, "The nation has been held a hostage to the indecision as the state power is in the hand of those who are not in favor of political consensus and are for a single-party dictatorship."[break]
UML leader Gautam reiterated that the current government was the obstacle to political consensus, adding the government and the ruling alliance should decide whether or not to forge political consensus.
"The opposition parties would topple the government through street protests if the government continued obstructing the formation of national consensus government," he said.
In response query by journalists about President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav´s role in the contemporary political situation, Gautam said President Dr. Yadav has played the required role to exert pressure to the parties for forging consensus but cautioned that he should not go further from this.
The UML´s support to President of the Nepali Congress, Sushil Koirala, was as it was in the past, the UML leader said, adding that he could file candidacy for new Prime Minister as per the need of the time.
