KATHMANDU, August 22: Vice-chairman of the main opposition CPN-UML, Bamdev Gautam has objected to the posting of his picture on the banner of CPN (Unified Socialist). Stating that he is still with the UML, Gautam’s secretariat has objected to the pasting of Gautam's picture on the banner of the CPN-Unified Socialist Party.
In the statement issued on Sunday, Gautam's personal secretary, Deepak Tamata said that despite long-standing differences over the working style of the UML leadership, Gautam remains in the UML. A picture of Gautam with Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Nepal under the banner of CPN-Unified Socialist has spread on social media since Saturday.
Bam Dev Gautam to support CPN-UML (Socialist)
“For the past few days, various newspapers and social media platforms have been publishing Gautam’s image stating that he has joined CPN (Unified Socialists) and he is going to be a minister soon. This is nothing more than character assassination,” the statement says. “Though he had some disagreement over the working style of the UML leaders, he has not left the party. Any kind of news otherwise is just a false statement.”
Just two days ago, another of his personal secretaries, Shailendra Raut had said that a virtual meeting of Gautam's unity campaign had decided to join the party led by Madhav Nepal.
