28 percent revenue collected
KATHMANDU, Dec 16: In the first five months of the current fiscal year 2024/25, both income and expenditure of the government have been weak. According to the Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), the government has collected 28 percent of the annual target revenue and spent about 30 percent of the budget by mid-December (Mangsir).
According to the statistics of the FCGO, the government’s development expenditure is weak. For the current fiscal year, Rs 352.3 billion have been allocated under the capital expenditure heading, with only 11.58 percent i.e. Rs 40.80 billion spent so far.

Under the recurrent expenditure heading, the expenditure till mid-December is 31.87 percent of the total allocation. The government has allocated Rs 1.140 trillion for the recurrent expenditure, with Rs 363.55 billion spent so far.
Similarly, 41.32 percent of the budget allocated under the headings of financial management has been spent on the annual target. The financial arrangement under the heading of Public Debt Repayment and Interest Expenses had an allocation of Rs 367.28 billion for the current fiscal year. Under the headings of financial management, Rs 151.76 billion has been spent so far.
By mid-December, 27.57 percent of the annual target, i.e. Rs 457.7 billion has been collected in revenue. For the current fiscal year, the government has set a target of collecting Rs 1.471 trillion in revenue.
Similarly, the government, which had set to receive Rs 52. 32 million in foreign grants this year, does not seem to have received any foreign grant so far.
