KATHMANDU, Oct 25: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has arrested Ram Bahadur Khanal, a shareholder of Gorkha Group of Companies Limited, for his alleged involvement in misappropriation of funds of Surya Darshan Savings and Credit Cooperative.
The CIB said that Khanal was arrested from Kathmandu on Friday. He is also the director of Nature Herbs International Pvt Ltd. and Gorkha Group of Companies Limited.

The CIB stated that Khanal was arrested for the investigation into the Surya Darshan Cooperative scam.
The police reported that he was arrested after finding that the cooperative's funds were transferred to Nature Herbs. GB Rai is the main operator of both the institutions. Former Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane is currently in custody in connection with the Surya Darshan Cooperative fraud case.
CIB sources said that Khanal was arrested from Panipokhari, Kathmandu. SP Hobindra Bogati stated that Khanal has been sent to the District Police Office, Kaski, for further investigation.
