KATHMANDU, August 2: Baburam Gautam, who resigned from the post of the speaker of Koshi Provincial Assembly yesterday, will be appointed as a minister today.
Gautam resigned from his position as Speaker on Tuesday to secure a majority of votes in the provincial assembly for the ruling alliance to form the new government.

CPN (Maoist Center) Koshi Province Parliamentary Party leader Indra Angbo said that Gautam will be appointed as a minister so that he will be second in line after the Chief Minister. However, it has not been decided which ministry he will be assigned to.
According to Angbo, a meeting of the coalition parties will be held after 11AM today and the distribution of ministries will be decided.
Angbo said that now there is an agreement to make only one minister from the coalition parties and other members will be added after obtaining the vote of confidence.
Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party leader Uddhav Thapa was appointed the Chief Minister for the second time on Tuesday. The oath-taking ceremony of the Chief Minister and ministers is scheduled after 5PM today.
