KATHMANDU, Aug 19:  Normal life in the capital has been hit due to the shortage of petroleum products.

Customers who reached petrol stations to refill their bikes and vehicles returned home without fuel this morning.

“I did not get any petrol even though I queued up for hours at the APF fuel station and Sajhayatayat fuel station this morning,” Abiral Gautam, Republica Online Correspondent,  posted on  his Facebook.

When inquired about the shortage of fuel, Bhanu Bhakta Khanal, spokesperson for the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), said that the Thankot depot is closed on public holidays.

"Yesterday was a public holiday on the occasion of Janaipurnima. So the NOC did not supply fuel to any fuel stations yesterday, causing the scarcity of fuel in the capital," said Khanal.

He further said that the fuel has been supplied today after complaints from the customers. “The shortage will ease soon,” Khanal told Repblica Online.
