FSP-N demands scrapping of 11-pt deal, 25-pt ordinance

KATHMANDU, July 28: Federal Socialist Party-Nepal (FSP-N) on Sunday submitted a memorandum to President Dr Ram Baran Yadav, demanding that the head of the state help fulfill its five-point demand.



The FSP-N had held a protest march from Maharajgunj Chowk to Nepal Police Academy Maharajgunj before submitting the memorandum Sunday afternoon, according to the party´s Deputy General Secretary Ajambar Rai Kangmang. [break]



The FSP-N in the memorandum submitted to President Dr Yadav has demanded scrapping of 11-point political agreement and 25-point ordinance that paved the way for the formation of Chief Justice-led election government, maintain same size and ratio between the seats under First Past the Post (FPTP) and proportionate electoral systems and arrangements for ensiring representation of marginalized groups as in the former Constituent Assembly.



The FSP-N has demanded that the election process be started only after consensus with all agitating parties. Among other things, the party has urged the government and the Election Commission to ensure the voting right of the hundreds of thousands of Nepalese living abroad. "We have also demanded an all-party political conference. There has not been any discussion yet among parties on key contentious issues of the new statute," said Kangmang.



Expressing strong dissatisfaction over the formation of Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi-led government, the FSP-N led by Ashok Rai has threatened to boycott the November elections if their "genuine" demands were not met. The party has also demanded dissolution of the High Level Political Committee that comprises of the leaders of four major political parties. The party is registered with the Election Commission.
