BAJURA, July 20: Most of the settlements in Bajura district are at high risk of landslides and flooding due to heavy rainfall. Many roads and trails have been washed away at multiple places. Movement of vehicles and people have been disrupted.
Settlements in ward number 1 and 2 of Budhiganga Municipality have been displaced due to landslides. Kudi and Amkot settlements in ward no. 1 and Bajedi, Nadang, Mustola and Taprisera settlements in ward no 2 of the municipality have been displaced.
Four die of postpartum complication in Bajura
The torrential rain on Sunday caused flooding in Ghattekhola which has washed away lands in Tanprisera, Musi and Kharra, said Hiralal Thapa, the municipality's ward 2 chair.
He added that six families have been displaced in Bajedi as their houses were damaged by a landslide triggered by heavy rain last night. The entire settlement is at risk due to the landslide.
Locals have to stay awake the whole night, said Game Luhar, a resident of the settlement. Ten more families have evacuated to Shiva Shankar Primary School after their houses developed cracks.
