TANAHUN, May 25: Fishing has been prohibited along the Narayani River at the pilgrimage site of Devghat for preserving aquatic life, said Tankanath Paudyal, coordinator of the Devghat Area Development Committee.

The committee has also declared that anyone found fishing along Benighat, the confluence of Narayani, Kaligandaki and Trishuli rivers, will be punished.

The ban comes a few days after the area was declared vegetarian, alcohol-free and no-smoking zone.
