According to Govinda Prasad Acharya, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the Taplejung District Police Office, property worth Rs 90 million has been destroyed in the inferno.
The fire had started from the house of Kaji Madin at around 2:30 in the afternoon and gradually spread to adjoining houses in no time. [break]
The other fire victims have been identified as Bhadra Bokhim, Yogya Patandawa, Dawayan Lama and Prithivi Dhoj Karki.
“In addition to the five houses, the fire has also rendered partial damages to eight other houses,” said Acharya.
Meanwhile, various organizations have been providing donations and relief packages to the victimized families. They include the Taplejung District Disaster Management Committee, the District Development Committee and Bahu-udeshya Cooperative.
Likewise, Taplejung branch of Nepal Red Cross Society has donated tents, quilts, cooking utensils and food items to the victims.
