The fire broke out from the house of Naresh Mandal of ward no. 5 of the VDC after a short circuit and destroyed a house of Mandal and two houses of his neighbour Pitambar Mandal, police said.
The Area Police Office, Hanumannagar, estimated the total loss of Rs 1 million as cash and a huge amount of foodstuffs, utensils and clothes were destroyed in the fire.
The fire was brought under control with support from the local residents, police personnel and a fire engine from Rajbiraj. RSS
