MORANG, March 18: Former President of Nepali Congress Morang district committee, Ashok Koirala, passed away on Wednesday night.
Santanu Regmi, a leader of Nepali Congress district committee, said that Koirala breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Neuro Hospital, Biratnagar. Koirala, 75, was suffering from pneumonia.

Koirala served as the mayor of Biratnagar city after the restoration of multi-party democracy in 1990. Later on he was elected a member of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Morang Constituency-4 in 2070 BS.
According to Regmi, Koirala's final rites would be performed today afternoon at local Hatkhola. The NC leader is survived by his spouse, a son and a daughter.
Senior leaders of Nepali Congress Shashanka Koirala, Shekhar Koirala, Minendra Rijal, Dila Sangraula and Amrit Aryal are attending the funeral procession.
