Everyone’s cooperation is needed to make Kathmandu a beautiful city: Newly elected Mayor Shah

KATHMANDU, May 27: Balendra Shah, the newly elected mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), has said that he considers the voters of Kathmandu Metropolitan City as his family.

KATHMANDU, May 27: Balendra Shah, the newly elected mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), has said that he considers the voters of Kathmandu Metropolitan City as his family.


Mayor Shah said so after the Election Commission's announcement of election results of the metropolis at the National Assembly Hall at Pradarshani Marg in Kathmandu on Friday. He said that cooperation of all was needed to make Kathmandu a beautiful city.

Similarly, Shah’s victory celebrations began after the result was announced. Shah’s supporters have started victory rallies and according to them it is a thanksgiving rally to all the voters.  


Independent candidate Balendra Shah was elected the mayor of the KMC as he received 61,767 votes. His nearest rival Srijana Singh, the ruling alliance candidate from the Nepali Congress, received 38,341 votes while CPN-UML candidate Keshav Sthapit was left in the third position. Sthapit received 38,117 votes.
