Electronic Trade Bill presented in parliament

KATHMANDU, Feb 7: Chairperson of the Industry, Commerce, Labor, and Consumer Welfare Committee Abdul Khan has presented the ' Electronic Trade Bill, 2081 BS' along with the parliamentary committee's report at the federal parliament.


Khan explained that with the growing trade of goods and services through electronic transactions in Nepal, the government introduced this bill to regulate and manage electronic trade.

The bill highlights that electronic trade has become essential in areas such as job creation, the easy supply of goods and services, and the promotion of exports. Therefore, it emphasizes the urgent need for a law to regulate and monitor it.


It includes various provisions to regulate, organize, and ensure the reliability of business transactions involving goods or services conducted through information technology.


The law allows any registered and authorized person, firm, company, or institution to engage in electronic trade.
