KATHMANDU, April 8: The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has urged parents not to enroll their children in foreign educational institutions operating in Nepal without authorization.

This advisory comes in response to complaints about some private schools illegally offering foreign programs and imposing excessive fees on parents. In a notice issued on Sunday, the ministry also announced the initiation of legal actions against unregistered educational institutions.

The ministry's statement highlighted concerns over the unauthorized operation of schools affiliated with International Baccalaureate (IB), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and other foreign curriculums without the ministry’s approval.

"The ministry has received various complaints regarding the operation of IB, CBSE, and other foreign educational institutions without our permission. We advise parents not to enroll their children in these institutions," the notice stated.

According to the ministry's records, out of the 49 educational institutions granted permission to operate, 30 offer A-level programs (UK), two are International Baccalaureate (Switzerland), 13 follow the Central Board of Secondary Education (India), and four operate based on diplomatic mission recommendations.
