Aryal said Nepal-Australia relations, established in 1960 and founded on friendship, mutual respect and shared democratic values, have continued to grow. He thanked the Australian government for humanitarian assistance and support in search and rescue efforts following the Bhotekoshi flood. He also expressed sympathy to the families of Australian citizens who went missing in the disaster.
With Nepal and other mountainous countries facing growing impacts of climate change, Aryal sought Australia’s support and solidarity in international discussions and initiatives on the issue.
He also highlighted the formation of the Nepal-Australia Parliamentary Friendship Group as an important platform for strengthening parliamentary ties. Regular interactions, exchanges of parliamentary experience and parliamentary diplomacy, he said, could further deepen bilateral relations.
Australian Speaker Dick expressed Australia’s interest in further strengthening parliamentary and bilateral relations with Nepal, according to Aryal’s Secretariat.
