EC Spokesperson Bir Bahadur Rai said the candidates and concerned political parties should furnish clarifications to the commission by Sunday.
According to the commission, 83 out of 332 candidates are not registered on the new electoral rolls with photos and biometrics. [break]
Similarly, 148 candidates do not meet age requirement of 25 years to become a CA member. Likewise, 19 candidates are in the lists of both the proportional representation and first-past-the-post (FPTP) electoral systems while 82 candidates are incorporated in the closed lists of candidates of more than one political party.
EC spokesperson said the commission gave a chance to the candidates and concerned political parties to furnish clarification in line with the ordinance regarding election of members of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
According to EC official, the commission has dispatched letters regarding the issue to the candidates and concerned political parties.
Consent for copters use
EC on Wednesday decided to allow various central senior leaders of political parties to use helicopters for election campaigning.
As per the commission´s decision, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala will use helicopter on November 13 for election campaigning in Sankhuwasabha district while NC senior leader and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba will use helicopter on November 11 and 12 for poll campaigning in Dadeldhura, Baitadi, Bajhang, Bajura and Achham districts.
Similarly, EC has given its consent to Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party -Nepal Kamal Thapa to use helicopter on Saturday in Jajarkot, Dailekh and Salyan districts for election campaigning.
According to the election code of conduct, political parties and candidates must seek the EC´s prior consent to use helicopters for election campaigning.
