Drink green tea

For thousands of years, people have been drinking infusions of tea, making it the most consumed beverage in the world, after water, of course. There are three main varieties of tea, which are black tea, green tea, and oolong tea. Green tea is one of the healthiest beverages out there. Not only is it completely calorie and sugar free, it’s also loaded with antioxidants that grant abundant health benefits. Plus, it’s revitalizing. What’s not to like?

Green tea can make you smarter
Caffeine, being present in green tea, is a stimulant. And thus, as caffeine has been meticulously researched before and without fail leads to improvements in various aspects of brain function, including improved disposition, awareness, reaction time, and memory, has proven to be able to make you smarter. However since caffeine in green tea is in lower dosages than in coffee, it has this effect without the “jittery” aspect of coffee.   

Green tea can stimulate weight loss
In human controlled trials, green tea has repetitively shown to aid in increasing metabolic rate and thus increase fat burning as well. For instance, in one study conducted among ten healthy men, green tea was found to increase energy expenditure by four percent, while in another study, green tea helped increase fat oxidation by 17%. Thus, green tea promotes weight loss and also helps in increasing your metabolic rate leading to more fat loss. 

Green tea can lower chances of cancer
Cancer is one of the world’s leading causes of death and it develops due to oxidative damage that contributes to its growth. The oxidative damage is said to be controlled by powerful antioxidants in green tea. In various observational studies that were conducted over time, women who drank tea were said to have 20-30% lower risk of developing breast cancer. Besides breast cancer, green tea is said to help lower risks of prostate and colorectal cancer as well.

Green tea can lower chances of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s
Various studies show that catechin compounds in green tea has had numerous protective effects on neurons in animal and in test tubes as well. It lowers the risks of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s, two of the most neurodegenerative diseases in humans which lead to dementia and death of dopamine producing neurons. As green tea helps to renew and maintain healthy brain cells, it goes a long way to prevent cognitive and mobile degeneration.
