Dream detour

No matter how socially and financially we differ from each other, letting our imagination loose, or dreaming and hoping for a bright future are the inalienable rights that we are endowed with. The SEE results enable many aspiring dreams to germinate in a preferred direction as they search for leeway to make their dreams into reality. However, students of government schools are among those whose dreams are affected by the weak economic status of their families.

Umesh Tamang,
Janakalyan Secondary School

I am satisfied with my result. I have not enquired with other colleges as I have decided to continue my higher education with the same institution. I wish to study either science or management, but studying science can be quite costly, and I have a hectic work schedule where I work 9 hours daily. So, I am more inclined towards management.  I have been working with my uncle for the past two years, and I will continue working even after joining college.

Sadikshya Khatiwada,
Janakalyan Secondary School

Since I am keen on studying business, I chose the management stream for my higher secondary education. I am confident that my score is good enough to pursue management. I am interested in entrepreneurship and because my sister also studied the same, I look forward to following her footsteps. We studied in Nepali medium, but now I am considering studying in English medium.

Mahendra Boudha Sec School

I had planned to study management. However, after receiving counseling for every stream, I am now considering humanities. I want to indulge myself in social work.  I am planning to study the subject in the same school where I had previously studied. I have been working as a waitress and the pay has helped me become independent.

I have chosen Pasang Lhamu College for my higher secondary education. I will be studying humanities and take Nepali as one of the major subjects. After the SEE results, I went to few colleges. I’ve found out that the college that I have chosen will come in the budget of my parents.

Kusum Limbu
Nava Jagariti Sec School

I have a low GPA. So, I am planning to either study humanities or management. Both my parents run their own shops. They encourage me to seek a long-term career in business. However, if I happen to take humanities, I will continue with media studies. For now, I am taking language and computer classes. I have visited a few colleges but I am yet to decide where to study.

I am not entirely satisfied with my result. It didn’t go as I had expected. As I have always wanted to study science, I joined a bridge course soon after the exams. I aspire to become an IT Engineer because I am fascinated with computers. Also, it has a broader scope. I’ve made rounds of few colleges, and I have decided to study in St. Xavier’s. Although my parents were initially stressed by my decision, they have allowed me to go ahead. I feel fortunate to have their full support.

I planned to study science and become a mechanical engineer. Since my parents cannot afford for my studies, I will be studying management and computer science. In the meantime, I have been utilizing the break by working as a waiter in wedding parties. It’s helped my family pay for our living expenses. I am also planning to visit colleges with my friends this week.

While waiting for the results, I learned tailoring and completed computer class. Since my parents have given me the liberty to choose the subject I wish to study, I decided to go ahead with science. I want a career in IT for which I have started looking out for colleges that provide intensive and effective learning on the subject. As for the financial expenses, my parents have happily agreed to support me.

Niru Maya Waiba,
Nava Jagariti Sec School

I joined computer courses and been working part-time for my pocket money. I wish to be a nurse. So, I want to study science. However, my family believes that studying science will lead me to nowhere. They can hardly afford for my studies. I am compelled to shift to management and computer science now. I hope to study hard and give my best in any stream I pursue.
