Dr Shrestha shared his experiences after reuniting with the family six hours following his release at Majhimtar, Dhadging. ”I was kept in a cold throughout the captivity. I always had to use a quilt to sleep,” he said.[break]
According to a health worker, who overheard the family’s conversation at the doctor’s quarter, Dr Shrestha said that he was blindfolded all the time and moved to many places, mostly on a motorbike.
”They used to put me in the middle of two persons and would politely caution me to sit properly saying the terrain is hilly,” a healthworker quoted him as saying.
”The kidnappers would call themselves Hindu Janata Party and say they would make themselves public after a few months,” he told his family.
”We only listened to him and did not ask further questions. He has not yet told about the motive behind his abduction,” said Dr Bijaya Neupane, coordinator of the Save Dr Bhakta Man Campaign.
As the doctor reportedly described, he was abducted from Hakim Chwok in Bharatpur on May 18 while he was on his way home. His vehicle was first surrounded by three four-wheelers and a few motorbikes. One of the four-wheelers slightly hit my vehicle and I halted. The armed men then took hold of me and ran off in high speed. ”They ferried me along a graveled and bumpy road for hours,” he said.
Dr Shrestha said he was not misbehaved with in the captivity. He was even surprised to have been offered medicine for his migrane. ”They used to speak in Hindi but not in a natural tone,” he was quoted as saying.
