KATHMANDU, Aug 2: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has spoken about his recent meetings with former President Bidya Devi Bhandari and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Speaking at an event in Biratnagar on Saturday, Dr Koirala said the meetings were informal. “I didn’t have much to say during my meeting with Maoist Center Chairman Dahal,” he said. “I asked him whether he considers himself part of the ruling side or the opposition in Parliament. He replied that he is in the opposition.”
Koirala said he challenged Dahal's response. “I told him, ‘You seem like you’re part of the ruling side.’ He asked why, and I said, ‘At the moment, only the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) appears to be playing the role of a real opposition—they are actively confronting the ruling coalition. You, on the other hand, are sitting with us in discussions. How can you claim to be in opposition?’”
