KATHMANDU, Oct 25: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Ishwar Pokharel, who is on a state visit to China, paid homage to Mao Tse Tung's memorial situated near the Tiananmen Square in Beijing on Wednesday.
DPM Pokharel embarked on a three day visit to China on Wednesday upon the invitation of Chinese Defense Minister General Wei Feng. He will be attending the eighth Beijing Xiangshan Forum.
DPM Pokharel to look after PM's portfolio
At the memorial, DPM Pokhrel praised the contribution of Mao for the salvation of suppressed and oppressed people across the world in the condolence book.
Pokharel is scheduled to address the forum participated by defense policymakers and senior army officials from over 100 countries from across the world. Pokhrel will also share Nepal's experience on peace keeping missions in war-torn countries and discuss about empowerment and modernization of Nepal Army, said his personal secretary Dipendra Shrestha.
