Two of those names are Melee Shrestha and Nikita Poudyal, the two rising names in Nepali corporate market.[break]
The two were recognized with the Young Business Achiver-2013 Awards at the FNCCI National Excellence Awards ceremony organized by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) last Tuesday.
Melee Shrestha is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Soft Age Nepal and Maxlee Traders, and Nikita Poudyal happens to be the Chairman of Gopi Krishna Entertainments. They both believe that enduring dedication, loyalty to work and an obsession to learn new things are their primary pillars of success.
According to Shrestha, a business should not only aim at profits but it should be socially inclined as well.
“We live in society and it becomes our primary duty to contribute to the community we live in,” says she.
Shrestha, who in 2002 became the CEO of Soft Age Nepal, thinks that to run a business basically for a woman is not as easy as it sounds. However, one should cope with time and hurdles that come in the way, Shrestha says.
“Initially, I started my business from a small room rented at my friend’s office with a computer,” shared Shrestha. However, her determination to establish herself, her business and uplift women’s entrepreneurship in Nepal made herself and her company eligible to claim a prestigious award in the country.
Shrestha is thankful to FNCCI for the honor, and says, “The honor, I believe, is all for my enduring dedication to my business, and the contributions that my company and I have made to society.”
Shrestha also admits that family support counts a lot in business. According to her, support from her husband, Madhur Rajbhandari, was ever inspiring.
In similar manners, Nikita Poudyal admits that hard work, perfection and a nature to learn new things are the three ingredients of successful business and life.
Poudyal, a keen student of media and filmmaking, became the Managing Director of the Gopi Krishna Group of TV and film companies after completing her degree in Media Communication and Production from Thailand.
Expressing her satisfaction over her businesses, Poudyal says, “There were no entertainment channels in the country though the demand was tremendous among people.”
According to her, the appropriate timeliness for the establishment of her companies, individual knowledge of media and film production and an enduring support from her family have led her to success.
Poudyal, now Chairman of the companies, opines that in-depth experience and knowledge of the sector one is involved in make people and their companies successful.
The award winner said that it was a pleasurable moment to be recognized eligible for the award and being honored among senior corporate figures.
However, “The award made me feel that I have yet miles to go,” Poudyal concluded.
