DAMAK, Nov 22: Gita Adhikari, who got elected as the deputy mayor of Damak Municipality, has resumed her teaching career at Damak Multiple Campus (DMC). She has been teaching economics to the first year students of Bachelor in Business Studies.
Adhikari, who was fielded by CPN-UML in the recently held local elections, has long been a teacher. Though she is now the deputy mayor of the municipality, she has decided to continue her teaching profession which she has been involved in for the last 24 years.
“We welcomed her at our institute as a teacher after she showed her intense passion in teaching,” said Uttam Bhattarai, chief of DMC. He said that she expressed her desire to return back to teaching even though she has been serving as a deputy mayor.

As per Adhikari, she decided to get back to her job for sharing her knowledge. “I couldn't turn down the requests from students and college administration,” she stated, adding, “I take class from 7 am to 7:45 am only so that is won't affect my role as a deputy mayor.” She is working without taking any fee from the college.
Sandesh Paudel, a student of economics, said, “ Due to her excellence in teaching in the respective subject, she has been an inspiration for us.We are happy that she started teaching us after insisting for a while."
Adhikari received 12,625 votes in the local election defeating Regeena Bhattarai of Nepali Congress.
