Delay in air ambulance arrival adjourns Oli treatment in India

KATHMANDU Nov. 3: An attempt to take CPN-UML Standing Committee member KP Sharma Oli to India for further treatment by air ambulance has been adjourned for Saturday.



The pre-arranged bid to airlift ailing leader Oli to India has been put off due to the delay in the arrival of air ambulance from India and gradual improvement in his health condition. [break]



CPN-UML Publicity Department Chief Pradeep Gyawali said that it would be decided on Sunday whether to take the UML leader to India though it is postponed for today.



He was admitted to Thapathali-based Norvic Hospital on Friday evening after complaining of chest pain and fever.



The hospital has referred Oli to Medanta Hospital in New Delhi for further treatment.

Senior CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli, who is undergoing treatment at CCU unit of the Norvic Hospital in Kathmandu after suffering from respiratory problems and fever, is set to be taken to India via air ambulance for further treatment on Saturday.



According to journalist Bishnu Rijal, preparation is being carried out to airlift the leader Oli to New Delhi around 1pm this afternoon.[break]



Earlier this morning, the hospital had informed that leader Oli´s health condition is stable and showing improvement. Doctors had said that improvement was seen after the increment of the amount of oxygen given to him.



Meanwhile, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, Nepali Congress Vice-president Ram Chandra Paudel had also reached the hospital to inquire about his health condition, this morning.



On Friday, CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli was admitted to the Norvic Hospital. Oli, who was receiving treatment at Blue Bird International Clinic at Thapathali in the morning, was later referred to Norvic in the evening. Oli had been suffering from pneumonia but that his condition was improving.



CPN-UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal, leaders Bamdev Gautam, Bidya Bhandari, Ishwar Pokharel and others had immediately reached to the hospital to inquire about his health condition.



Recently while on his trip to the US, he fell ill and was admitted to a New York hospital for treatment. He arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday.



The UML leader had undergone kidney transplant a few years ago and has been regularly visiting Apollo Hospital in New Delhi for medication.
