CIAA files graft case against Bikram Pandey over Sikta project



The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a graft-case against former minister and chairman of Kalika Construction Bikram Pandey over the Sikta Irrigation project.



Notorious thug Rajan Limbu lands in police net



Metropolitan Police Crime Division (MPCD), Teku has arrested notorious thug Rajan Limbu from Gyaneshwar area on Friday afternoon. Acting on a tip-off, an MPCD team tracked Limbu down and rounded him up from his hideout in the Dhobikhola corridor between Ratopul and Kalopul  at 1:30 pm.

Over 200 thousand applicants devoid of smart driving license



The Transport Management Office has not been so far able to manage smart licenses to more than 200 thousand people who had applied for driving license and passed the written and trial tests. The number of applicants who have passed the examination administered by the Transport Management Office at Ekantakuna, Lalitpur for the ‘smart card’ and also paid the fees for the same has reached 557 thousand 700 as of Thursday. This number includes all the applicants who have passed the examination for driving license for the last four years since the Office started issuing the smart driving license system. 


International Civil Aviation Day being marked today



The International Civil Aviation Day is being observed in Nepal today, by organizing various programs. The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) held a morning procession to mark the Day. Minister for Culture; Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari; tourism secretary Krishna Prasad Devkota; and CAAN officials and employees and those from the ministry, Tribhuvan International Airport and Nepal Airlines Corporation; and tourism entrepreneurs joined the rally that originated from Sinamangal and concluded upon reaching the TIA area. 


Dr Bhattarai asks local governments to ensure good-governance



Former Prime Minister and Chief of Naya Shakti Party, Nepal Dr Baburam Bhattarai has asked the representatives of local governments to do away with corruption. Addressing the special municipality assembly of Halesi Tuwachung Municipality of Khotang district on Thursday, Dr Bhattarai said that corruption instead of Singhadurbar's rights is learnt to have become pervasive in local government. It would be a blunder if anti-federalist forces could rise because of people's representatives' weaknesses.


Fearing "Act IV" of unrest, France to close Eiffel Tower, Louvre, at weekend


With protesters from the “yellow vest” movement calling on social media for “Act IV” - a fourth weekend of protest - Prime Minister Edouard Philippe said 89,000 police nationwide would be deployed to stop a repeat of last Saturday’s mayhem across France.
